I (Shirley) talked to Kathy this morning around 6:30 a.m. She called to tell me that Grannie and Pop Pop's house burned down last night (early morning Wednesday, 19 December 2007). (Pictures are available here). Kathy is at Uncle Arnold's and she said that Kay Ward called her around 2:30 a.m. last night to tell Uncle Arnold that the house was on fire. Kay said that she and Hody heard a big "boom" and then the house went up in flames. Kay said the the fire department had already called in the arson investigator. Kathy said that there were no gas or phone turned on the the house, so it couldn't have been a gas leak to make it go up. There has been several houses to burn in this area and most of them were not being lived in. Kathy said that Uncle Arnold is really torn up about it and didn't sleep much at all last night. He said that is was the only link he had to his brothers and sisters left and now it's gone.
